Description
The Acadia Chukka is the latest addition to our handsewn collection. A chukka is a short, ankle-height, boot that typically has two or three rows of eyelets. The Acadia strikes the perfect balance between summer moccasins and winter boots making it the ideal transitional footwear between summer and fall. We've kept the Acadia unlined for comfort so the uppers can quickly mold to your feet but also for superior breathability in warmer weather. All uppers are water resistant so you don't have to worry about keeping your feet dry when the weather turns. The Acadia Chukka also features our new "caliber" sole, a durable outsole based on the classic crepe wedge style of sole but with enhanced durability. Genuine Handsewn Moccasin Construction, Made in Maine, USA.

Really Comfortable Boots

I've come to really enjoy these boots over the past six months. I find the crepe sole and moccasin construction to be very comfortable. They are definitely on the roomier side. Plan to wear them with heavier socks if you order your normal size, which is probably what they were designed to be worn with. The only fault I've really had with them is that the laces don't stay tied. This is more of a comment on leather laces in general than specific to the boot.

This shoe was comfortable out of the box.

It is well made and very attractive. I actually got some compliments because it is different and catches the eye. Love these chukkas.

Beautiful shoes

Love the shoes, loved the pricing and ordering system too. Don't know how feasible it is on Rancourt's end, but would definitely participate again.

A great shoe from a great company that didn't work for me

After several very positive experiences, this was my sixth or seventh pair of shoes from Rancourt. I'd worn a 12D comfortably in my other shoes, but the chukkas fit larger than my other pairs. I should have known better when I received them and returned them for an 11.5D; instead, I made the mistake of soldiering on. While the shoe itself is of great quality, I must endure loose-fitting heels and an inability to draw the laces tightly enough. Apart from my own mistake, my only complaint is the soles. While appreciate the classic good-looks of the crepe-style wedge, the soles were rounded, like rockers on a rocking chair, and I'm unsure whether that was intentional. Although nearly imperceptible to the eye, I could certainly tell once on my feet. I expected this feature to resolve with wear, and it has to some extent, but it was a process getting there, and the soles wore unusually because of it. Finally, for some reason the tread also does a great job of attracting mud and keeping it there until you have a chance to remove it. I hope this review is found helpful and enables the next man to enjoy a product from this great company.

Rancourt & Co.

Michael, thanks for the review and the feedback. Our Acadia chukka is made on the 2592 last which is one of our largest fitting handsewn lasts so that's most likely why you found them to fit larger. We make our handsewn boots on the 2592 last to allow for a roomier fit that can be worn with thicker socks. On our new website we have now included more detailed information about each last and how they fit. I'm sorry that these didn't work out for you. If you contact customerservice@rancourtshoes.com we would like to offer you a discount on another pair to get the correct fit.
