Excellent Contemporary Camp Moc
The Rancourt (Gilman) Camp Moc definitely lives up to its traditional namesake. Durability is important to me because they see a lot of wear during the warmest months and these are virtually indestructible. The chromexcel leather is consistent across my collection of carolina brown, it is flexible out of the box and molds nicely with time which will fix those tighter areas you may experience during first try on. In my opinion you want as snug a fit as you can handle out of the box with a true moccasin. The Rancourt pattern has a longer cut top vamp which I've found keeps a secure fit after the break in period and the mid height shoe profile helps keep out debris while around the yard or cabin. The current sole has been a great shift from the previous style - It is comfortable, durable and doesn't hold onto dirt when I step into the car (or canoe) as say a siped sole would. I'm a huge fan of the soles. Periodically I'll use a conditioner on the leather upper to keep the mocs happy after my abuse. Overall I have no complaints, they are a great addition and I also highly recommend the Pinch Penny for another real classic look not having spared the excellent hand sewn details. I have used the printed size chart and I buy the same size for all shoes when I order (Ranger, Gilman Camp, Pinch Penny) Don't just stare at the shoes, think about the memories that will come along with the years spent wearing your choice mocs, they are made to last for a reason. cheers
