After several very positive experiences, this was my sixth or seventh pair of shoes from Rancourt. I'd worn a 12D comfortably in my other shoes, but the chukkas fit larger than my other pairs. I should have known better when I received them and returned them for an 11.5D; instead, I made the mistake of soldiering on. While the shoe itself is of great quality, I must endure loose-fitting heels and an inability to draw the laces tightly enough. Apart from my own mistake, my only complaint is the soles. While appreciate the classic good-looks of the crepe-style wedge, the soles were rounded, like rockers on a rocking chair, and I'm unsure whether that was intentional. Although nearly imperceptible to the eye, I could certainly tell once on my feet. I expected this feature to resolve with wear, and it has to some extent, but it was a process getting there, and the soles wore unusually because of it. Finally, for some reason the tread also does a great job of attracting mud and keeping it there until you have a chance to remove it. I hope this review is found helpful and enables the next man to enjoy a product from this great company.
