Description
The Byron Boot is your go-anywhere, do-anything footwear. Inspired by motorcycle culture but with a drop of sophistication, the Byron embodies the best of Rancourt & Co. shoemaking knowledge and tradition. The uppers are crafted from Horween's chromexcel leather in black. This rugged black leather is low maintenance, durable, and incredibly handsome. We lasted the uppers on our proprietary 115 last, the same last we use for our dress shoes. We offer a wide range of sizes and widths on the 115 last because of it's superior fit and elegant shape. It perfectly straddles the line between dress and casual. Each pair is fully lined with Horween's Casco horsehide lining in black. We love Casco because it is a soft and supple leather lining that lends more structure and durability to the uppers without sacrificing comfort. The bottoms are a winning combination of leather midsole with a storm welt and the Vibram #430 mini lug. They complete this rugged look without overdosing on "commando" style. The Byron Boot is handcrafted in Lewiston, Maine USA using our Blake Welt Stitch Construction.

Excellent, American Made Boot

This is a great boot with a minimal break-in period. I can tell that it will patina nicely. Overall comfort and fit is a 9.5/10. I’ve worn these boots in inclement weather and it kept my feet dry. Walking for many hours on concrete is practical. Carolina Brown works as a staple for any wardrobe as a go-to brown boot.

Well done Rancourt Team.

Great boots!

These boots are worth every penny! The leather is amazing inside and out and the construction is solid. They broke in after a few hours of walking around the mall. I only wish that at this price point they came with shoe bags and/or a spare set of laces.

Elegant and comfy

Loving this boot, elegant and comfortable. I thought it would take a while to break in, but only a day or so.

Very comfortable, great craftsmanship; okay leather

These boots look very nice, fit me well, and are very comfortable. I have only had them for a month or so and have mostly worn them for work, so I cannot say a lot about durability/longevity. But the stitching is excellent and the lining leather is soft and supple. I have seen much better looking pieces of Chromexcel leather than is the case with these. The leather on the quarters (the parts that touch the ankles) has very loose grain and is already bending and creasing in less than desirable ways. The leather on the tongue and forefoot is a little tighter grain and higher quality. Also, the leather that my Rancourt derby shoes are made with (natural chromexcel) the grain seems to be tighter as well, so this could just be an issue with my pair. I have some other shoes from rancourt that are also made with Horween's Chromexcel leather and haven't had the same issues, so hopefully you won't either.

I expect these to last a very long time and serve me well in a variety of settings.

Rancourt & Co.

Hello Scott,

Thank you for the review! Unfortunately, as you can imagine, from hide to hide, there can always be some loose grain. We certainly do our best to avoid these pieces however, it is not always possible.

Your support and feedback are greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Rancourt & Co.
