Great Look and Quality

I have about 8 pairs of Rancourt shoes and boots. Needless to say, I enjoy them. The Gilman looks great and is great quality. The only reason it does not get 5 stars is due to size. Even though it is on the same last as several of my other pairs of Rancourt, it fits much tighter across the bridge of the foot. I will have to stretch it out before I can wear it as often as I had hoped.

Hello Chris,

Thank you for the review! This is a common fit issue for those who have a high in-step and also due to how the laces are stitched. If these do not stretch naturally to the point where they are comfortable, please reach out to our customer service team and we'd be happy to stretch them and/or "thin" the laces - customerservice@rancourtshoes.com

Your support is greatly appreciated, Chris.

My Favorite pair of Shoes

My Camp Mocs are a perfect fit. They are super high quality in sewing and materials. the design is 100% accurate. This is an exact replica of the Camp Mocs I wore as a kid in the Adirondack summers during the 1950's.

I think these mocs are worth every penny of their price, as I consider them priceless!

I also have them in Black Chrome Xcel leather. Perfect!

Predictable excellence

I have a 1971 Rolex Submariner. I have a 1929 Gibson L5 guitar. I have Flight Suits classic bomber jackets, where the maker specifies the hides and the tanning in detail.

I use all that stuff. I dress like I was at summer Scout camp Echockotee in Duval County.

I believe raw materials will be around long after the cost of labor is forgotten, so get good stuff. You'll be looking at it for a long time. I believe that some classic designs are very satisfying, intact. All they need is *execution,* not elaboration.

Camp moccasins are one such. These Gilman model shoes fulfilled my expectations in every way. I always reach a decision point, whether to saddle-soap a new pair of good leather shoes or let them age on their own. A month or so has passed and they're getting Fiebings saddle soap soon. Only to age down the shine.

I now have three pairs from Rancourt--these, a dark brown pair of the same with pebble grain leather, and a 10-year-old single shoe, part of a freshly saddle-soaped pair where the other went missing. I'm keeping it in hopes that its mate is merely misplaced and not a chewed-up shipwreck, the victim of one of our dogs.

That's my $.02. You know what the shoes look like--hence the pic of the Flight Suits relic A2 bomber jac.
