This is the epitome of classic Maine style. The Read boat shoe in British Tan is the perfect summer shoe. Not only do they look great with a pair of chinos or shorts, but they perform just as a boat shoe should. The Heritage Brown Leather is highly water resistant and incredibly durable, and we've kept it unlined so you can wear them without socks. The non-marking rubber boat soles have siping which makes them stick like glue to slippery surfaces. A pair of chestnut leather laces wraps around the heel to provide an extra snug fit. Each pair is handcrafted in Lewiston, Maine USA using our Genuine Handsewn Moccasin construction.
In terms of materials and build quality, they are far superior than even the most expensive version of Sperry boat shoes. But there's not much cushioning under the foot. Perhaps as your feet mold to the shoes and they break in they will get more comfy, but if you need cushioning, I suggest an insole. Otherwise, they are super well made and I love the smell of the leather.
