Our Natural pull-up leather is impregnated with a proprietary blend of natural oils and waxes, this special tannage gives the leather a number of distinctive properties. It has a beautiful bright finish, unique "pull-up" character, soft and flexible structure, and a "self polishing" property. Over time the leather will "bloom", which means the oils and waxes make their way to the surface, leaving a light white film on the leather. It's as simple as buffing with a horsehair brush or soft cloth and you'll restore the beautiful finish of the leather. This is my third pair of Rancourt loafers and love the color and quality of this shoe. Sized down a half size from my brannock size. Can't wait to develop the patina on these as I wear in the Summer. Just wished I would have tried the LH sole, but will do so when I eventually have to send back to them to be resoled.
So happy with them. I was unsure about the sizing printout, but it turns out it's perfectly on-point -- and led me to discover that I've been wearing the wrong shoe size my whole life. You should heed Rancourt's suggestion to order half a size down. These loafers fit snugly just where they ought to, and they really are lovely. Looking forward to the compliments.
I didn't recall my bannock size but I ordered a similar size to some well-loved dress shoes I inherited from my dad -- a full size down from my boot size -- with the intention of possibly having to return the shoes. They fit like a glove when they arrived, maybe a little too tight for my taste in the toebox but perfect on length so I decided to keep them. I'm used to ski boots and rock climbing shoes, and I'd say these fit similarly. I broke them in by wearing them on a 1mi dog walk around town and periodically throughout the week and as the leather stretched they became a lot more comfortable. I look forward to wearing these a lot more, especially as the weather warms up. The quality of the workmanship and materials are top notch as to be expected of a shoe of this caliber, and an unlined loafer with leather soles and beef rolls was just the style I was looking for. After a few months I'll update my review with photos to see how they're holding up.
Fit tremendously well. Love the natural leather. Very pleased with purcahse. I did order 1/2 size smaller as suggested.
I have returned these twice, and think the shoes are right-sized, my toe placement is consistent with other shoes i have, but still very tight across the ball of my foot, and keep getting heel blisters.
my hope is these will loosen up more as i wear them, have been using them for my walking shoes in the morning, they have probably 10 miles of wear on them.
