Elegant and comfy
Loving this boot, elegant and comfortable. I thought it would take a while to break in, but only a day or so.

These boots look very nice, fit me well, and are very comfortable. I have only had them for a month or so and have mostly worn them for work, so I cannot say a lot about durability/longevity. But the stitching is excellent and the lining leather is soft and supple. I have seen much better looking pieces of Chromexcel leather than is the case with these. The leather on the quarters (the parts that touch the ankles) has very loose grain and is already bending and creasing in less than desirable ways. The leather on the tongue and forefoot is a little tighter grain and higher quality. Also, the leather that my Rancourt derby shoes are made with (natural chromexcel) the grain seems to be tighter as well, so this could just be an issue with my pair. I have some other shoes from rancourt that are also made with Horween's Chromexcel leather and haven't had the same issues, so hopefully you won't either.
I expect these to last a very long time and serve me well in a variety of settings.
Hello Scott,
Thank you for the review! Unfortunately, as you can imagine, from hide to hide, there can always be some loose grain. We certainly do our best to avoid these pieces however, it is not always possible.
Your support and feedback are greatly appreciated.

I was impressed with the quality of these boots the first time I put them on. They were comfortable from the first wear. I put them on and immediately went on a two mile walk with no real discomfort during or after. I appreciate the attention to detail on these boots. The Casco horsehide leather lining is such a nice touch and is much appreciated. I like the gusseted tongue (which I don't think is mentioned in the listing description). I like the brass eyelets for quick lacing. I like the profile of the boot. I bought some classic boots from another company and the toes were too bulbous. I wanted to like them but I sent them back. I bought another pair from another popular company that won't be named and they just didn't feel correctly proportioned. The Byron boot strikes a great balance between tough and classy. I do not hesitate to wear these to church or work. The Horween leather is also a must-have in my opinion. Bottom line: these boots strike a great balance in the market. Made to order in Maine is also nice. For sizing, I highly recommend printing out their foot sizing guide and measuring several times until you feel comfortable. The sizing guide worked perfectly for me and these boots fit great on the first order.
These boots are super comfortable and well made. Careful on the sizing though. Rancourt sizing guide recommended 9.5 which seemed very small considering I wear 11.5 in almost every other brand. I decided to go with a 10.5 and they fit perfectly. Nice toe box room and not tight. I would definitely get another pair in the future.
Great quality boot the workmanship is superb!
