The Byron Boot is your go-anywhere, do-anything footwear. Inspired by motorcycle culture but with a drop of sophistication, the Byron embodies the best of Rancourt & Co. shoemaking knowledge and tradition. The uppers are crafted from double shot full grain leather. tanned in the US. This rugged Natural color leather is low maintenance, durable, and known for its deep pull-up rugged durability and timeless patina. We lasted the uppers on our proprietary 115 last, the same last we use for our dress shoes. We offer a wide range of sizes and widths on the 115 last because of it's superior fit and elegant shape. It perfectly straddles the line between dress and casual. Each pair is fully lined. We love the lining because it is a soft and supple leather lining that lends more structure and durability to the uppers without sacrificing comfort. The bottoms are a winning combination of leather midsole with a storm welt and the Vibram #430 mini lug. They complete this rugged look without overdosing on "commando" style. The Byron Boot is handcrafted in Lewiston, Maine USA using our Blake Welt Stitch Construction.

The build quality of these boots is so high that I wonder whether it's contributing to them feeling a bit too stiff for my tastes. They fit well but would need to break in a lot more before I would call them comfortable, and unfortunately I don't wear them often enough for that. That isn't the boot's fault, though. For inclement weather there isn't another boot I own that's better, that's for sure...
I love these boots! Incredible craftsmanship, well designed, and comfortable. Also glad to say I got a pair of boots from home! I got a half-size too small by accident, but I believe with some breaking in they should be alright.
They had my size in stock during a sale so I was able to get them at a discount, but I would have happily bought at full price eventually. (The sale did speed up my purchase though.)
Black leather with the natural leather in the midsole looks great in my opinion and better than an all-black boot.
These are great boots. The materials are all top quality and the construction is excellent. Sizing is an issue though. Rancourt, like a lot of on-line shoe companies, go to a lot of effort to help customers with sizing. I downloaded their sizing guide (pdf) and followed the instructions very carefully. It gave me an 8D - so I ordered that size. When the boots arrived, it was obvious they were too narrow. I went through their sizing guide again - and it gave me 8D. They boots were almost half an inch too narrow. I had to return them at my cost and exchange them for an 8EE. The 8EE arrived and to my relief, they are wide enough. Americans must like their shoes tight.
