Description
The Beefroll Penny Loafer is our iconic shoe. Cut from unlined Horween Chromexcel it doesn't get any more Uniquely American than this. Chromexcel is the flagship leather from the iconic Horween Tannery in Chicago, IL. Chromexcel is impregnated with a proprietary blend of natural oils and waxes, this special tannage gives the leather a number of distinctive properties. It has a beautiful bright finish, unique "pull-up" character, soft and flexible structure, and a "self polishing" property. Over time the leather will "bloom", which means the oils and waxes make their way to the surface, leaving a light white film on the leather. It's as simple as buffing with a horsehair brush or soft cloth and you'll restore the beautiful finish of the leather. Learn more about Horween's Chromexcel leather here. This variation on our best-selling Beefroll Penny Loafers features Reltex Lactae hevea Crepe soles. The 100% natural latex Lactae Hevea soles are unrivaled in comfort and durability. This version of our Beefroll Penny Loafer is not only representative of the best of what we do but is also one of the most versatile shoes we make. Genuine handsewn Moccasin construction. Made in Maine, USA. Sizing: The Beefroll Penny Loafer in unlined Chromexcel tends to run larger than our other shoes. It's best that these fit snug at first as they will stretch and conform to your feet. We recommend ordering a half size down from your normal size. eg. If you normally wear 10D, order 9.5D.

Better Than Expected

First Pair of Rancourt shoes … I thought they would be of high quality in a classic style. What I did anticipate was the level of service , craftsmanship and comfort.. The sole has good traction and super comfortable. Break- In was about 2 hours, I order in My New Balance sneaker size and they fit perfect …

Modern take on a classic loafer

Received these today (fast shipping!). These loafers are excellent - beautifully constructed, with top-quality materials. The LH soles are flexible, providing good cushioning without sacrificing support. I followed Rancourt's advice and ordered them 1/2 size smaller than my normal dress shoe. The fit is perfect.

I've been very satisfied with all of my purchases from Rancourt & Co. to date. Excellent service. Excellent products. Excellent value! Thank you!

Beefroll Penny Loafers

Quality product. I glad that I didn't order 1/2 size larger. Shoes fit very snugly, but are well made. Would buy again.

Impeccably made shoe but puzzling fit

The construction of these shoes cannot be faulted. Beautiful leather and impeccably made.

However, the sizing is bizarre. I measure 9.5D on a Brannock, yet am a bit smaller than a 9D on the Rancourt sizing chart. I typically size down half a size for loafers too, and never require an E width. Following some advice, I opted to go for my usual loafer size and purchased a 9D. Given that these loafers are said to run large, my main concern was that they would be too big.

However, to say these loafers were small/narrow is an understatement. The loafers were so tight that I struggled to even get my foot into them. When measured against the sole of all my other loafers in 9D (including a different pair of Rancourt loafers, the pinch penny loafers) these are clearly far smaller in both length and width. Initially I thought I had been given a much smaller size that had been mistakenly marked as a 9D, but Rancourt assured me this could not have happened.

Given the cost of exchanging them from Australia was nearly the same price as the shoes themselves, I decided to persist with them in the hope that they were the correct size and would stretch out. While they have stretched a bit, they are still tiny. I am wary about sizing up too as it seems odd to have to size up in a shoe that you are recommended to size down for. Very confusing.
